Ever wondered if there was a better way to layout your office? Maybe you think there is, but you don’t want to change just in case your vision is a bit off?
Planning your space out can work wonders, allowing you to bring your imagination into the real world without even moving a pen let alone a desk!
How much space do people need?
Legally, each person needs 11 cubic meters of space so they can get on with their work comfortably and have enough space to walk around the office without being an Olympic hurdler. If you’re still unsure, here’s a handy equation:
Office length x Height (3 meters maximum) x Width … Then divide the answer by the number of employees.
If the answer is less than 11 you legally need to upgrade your workspace.
What is space planning and why is it useful?
Space planning measures your office and your office equipment checking if it will mathematically fit into the space without having to chop bits off! By taking measurements it allows us to create a concrete visual of how the space will work. Meaning no mistakes are made.
These 2D rendered and virtual reality designs ensure you are satisfied with how the outcome will look before you proceed.
How to create the perfect space?
Creating a strong brief is vital. It should reflect your business and its ambitions. Having the right space allows your business to perform at its best, providing the right facilities for you and your staff.
Thinking vertical as the walls are one of the best ways to utilise space. Not enough space for a couple of plants but really want a more biophilic office? Why not put in a bio wall? Plants on the wall means floorspace isn’t impacted whilst allowing you to brighten up your office too.
Don’t forget the storage! Thinking about where the storage goes and what it will look like is important. Getting it right can make your office appear pristine as opposed to cluttered. Inbuilt storage is fantastic, allowing mess to be hidden from sight.
Essentially, space planning is about making the most of every inch and how that space can help you and your team become more productive. Using walls to hold work equipment and by having inbuilt storage, space can be maximised allowing more space for your staff to work.
