Solihull School

In 2014 Richard Bate, the bursar at Solihull School, approached MBS with a very exciting project – to help in the furnishing of their new 6th form centre, the Cooper Building.

Over a period of 8 months, designs and room layouts were refined until the final schedule of furniture was decided upon. All areas across the building from classrooms, social spaces, cafeterias, open study areas, corridors and even an outdoor roof space required furniture.

All of it needed to meet the modern design of the new building but also be robust enough to cope with the demanding environment of a busy 6th form.

MBS called upon the support of 19 manufacturers to fulfil the requirements of the school, most were ‘off the shelf’ products but there were a number of bespoke solutions, including the lockers to all of the corridors.

All items were delivered and installed over a 2 week period in the summer of 2015 at a price 15% lower than the original budget.

The outcome was a fantastic, colourful, learning environment which both Richard, the staff and most importantly the pupils were pleased with.

Solihull School have worked with MBS over the last few years on a variety of projects across all of our age ranges. The School wanted an environment that wasn’t a traditional school building but a space that would inspire our students. We have achieved this through a clever blend of furnishing, finishes and colours. MBS understood and helped define and refine our needs and delivered this vast range efficiently and effectively. The students love it! I find Tony and his team helpful, prompt and constructive, whatever the challenge.
